The roof replacement process from start to finish
— Our process
Roof inspection
This roof was inspected after a poorly installed overlay was causing it to leak. A high number of nail pops and low nails were found as potential water intrusion points.
Nail pops found
“Nail pops” are nails that push up and raise the shingle, sometimes even breaking through. There are a number of reasons that this can occur, but can often be attributed to improper fastening methods.
When a second layer of shingles has been installed over an existing roof, the nails need to be long enough to properly penetrate the sheathing. If they are not, the nails can work their way up and "pop" out.
Tear-off and wood replacement
The existing roof was torn off and rotten or damaged sheathing was replaced to provide a suitable foundation for the new roof.
New roofing system installed
A quality roofing system involves the underlayment, shingles, accessory products, and ventilation all working together. We used CertainTeed's Integrity Roof System® for this project- designed to provide optimum performance and protection.
This homeowner chose the Landmark® PRO shingles in Max Def Shenandoah, and the result speaks for itself.
